Good Shepherd Foundation

In 2009 the Congregation Council appointed a five member Board of Directors to direct the affairs of the recently established Good Shepherd Foundation. The Foundation was organized and is operated exclusively for charitable, religious and educational purposes, specifically to support and benefit Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the community, the ELCA and other institutions and agencies as deemed appropriate.

Foundation funds are invested in the ELCA Mission Development Fund which provides funding for missions as well as a fixed return for the Foundation and in the ELCA Foundation( a diversified portfolio designed for charitable giving). Currently all funds are invested in the fixed income fund.

Contributions to the fund may be made at any time and is an effective way to honor or memorialize a friend or loved one. For Contributions of $10,000 or more, the Foundation has provided for specially named memorial funds which will be administered within the Foundation.

Please consider including the Good Shepherd foundation in your will. If you decide to do so,please advise the church office or Bruce Shealy(P.O. Box12027, Columbia, S. C. 29211). It would be helpful to know the amount or the asset that you intend to bequeath. This is an excellent way to assure that your goodwill and generosity will be shared with others in perpetuity.
