Giving

GSLC is a special place where God is active and present in redeeming our community and the world. Your financial contributions create ministry, and they sustain ministry.

Why

When we give to the work of God, it is an act of worship. We give through our time, talents, and treasures, yet we believe that the entirety of these ultimately belong to God. God simply has given them to us to steward/manage in this lifetime. We are called to be stewards of all God's gifts, which means that stewardship is giving 100% to God. This means our daily decisions and acts -- all the ways that we put to use time, talents, and treasures throughout our lives -- are meant to be God-pleasing.

The manner that we live our lives is an expression of faith, and our daily decisions are small acts of worship. The pages that list our ministries will give you a sense of how your time and talents can be faithfully offered at Good Shepherd. Those ministries are driven by gifts of time and talents, however each one of them also requires financial investments, whether directly or indirectly. This page offers a brief explanation of the various ways our treasures can be faithfully used to complete God's work.

Sunday Offering

The early church recognized that the ministry they were called to do required gifts. At the outset of the church, an offering of food and money was collected during worship in order to aid the ministries of the church.

This practice continues to this day, and our offering is an integral part of the liturgy that allows us to tangibly acknowledge that God's mission in this world is more than worthy of our contributions.

Stock Donations

Some households like to make contributions of stocks to the ministry of the congregation. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is willing to accept gifts of stocks and equities. Please contact the church office for more information about this.

Memorial Gifts

There are times in which gifts are given in memory of an individual. Contributors can trust that we have policies in place to guarantee that this money is put to use in a manner that is worthy of the memory of the one who is deceased. These gifts are typically for the purpose of something meaningful and special that is not included in our annual budget (e.g. special paraments for worship). Please contact the church office if you have questions about memorial gifts.

Flowers in Memory or Thanksgiving

There are flowers given each week that add beauty to our sanctuary and narthex. These are given in memory of individuals or in thanksgiving of life events. Please contact the church office if you would like to offer flowers in memory or thanksgiving.

GSLC Foundation

The Good Shepherd Foundation serves by giving grants to ministries outside our congregation. These grants are currently distributed annually. Contributions to the Good Shepherd Foundation are always welcome. However, adding the foundation to your will is an excellent way to continue to make a lasting impact on God's work in this world even after you have passed away.
