There are many ways that members of Good Shepherd come together for times of fellowship, fun, and growth in love for each other and for God.
Lutheran Men in Mission
Lutheran Men in Mission seek to strengthen the spiritual development and witness of men and to provide financial and other support to mission congregations. The group focuses on three areas -- spiritual growth, service, and participation The group usually meets the first Monday of the month in the Fellowship Activities Building at 6:30 p.m. for a meal and program.
Women of the ELCA (WELCA)
WELCA commits themselves to grow in faith, affirm their gifts, support each other in their callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world. The work of WELCA is accomplished at Good Shepherd through committees for growth, action, community, and food.
The Good Shepherd Congregational Unit is broken down into four Circles, which have their own projects in addition to supporting the Unit projects. The Circles are DORCAS which meets on the 3rd Thursday at 6:30PM, MARY which meets on the 1st Thursday at 10AM, SARAH which meets on the 2nd Tuesday at 10AM and TAMAR which meets the 3rd Thursday at 6:30PM. The Circles meet to fellowship, enjoy meals together, give of their gifts and support each other.
Young Adults (Y.A. Way)
Y.A. Way focuses on its mission of Fellowship, Learning, Outreach, and Worship (F.L.O.W.). Y.A. Way hosts a quarterly fellowship event and rotates between meeting in local restaurants to the Fellowship Activities Building to a member's house. Free childcare is provided for all fellowship events and in addition to supporting GSLC service projects, Y.A. Way plans its own outreach/service projects each year.
The In-Between ministry fills the gap for those between Young Adults and Seniors. Activities such as Road Rallies, Super Bowl Parties, and Putt-Putt Golfing give members an opportunity to socialize and grow in their relationships with one another. The In-Betweens typically meet quarterly.
Live Wire Society
Generally meeting in the Fellowship Activities Building on the third Friday of the month for a potluck lunch and program, this active group of Seniors also sets off on various outings throughout the year to concerts, plays, and other intellectual and cultural events.
Small-Group “Supper Clubs” are open to all members and provides a comfortable and relaxed way to meet other members of the congregation while enjoying a wonderful meal.
Good Shepherd sponsors co-ed kickball team and softball teams during the year. The congregational golf outings are always a success and open to members and friends.
