Good Shepherd Foundation

Mission of the Foundation

The Good Shepherd Foundation is organized and operated exclusively for charitable, religious, and educational purposes, specifically to support and benefit the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, the community, the ELCA and other institutions and agencies as defined in the Foundation Operating Guidelines.

The Foundation provides support and benefit, principally in the form of financial assistance, for charitable and other related tax-exempt purposes. The Foundation is one way that members and friends of GSLC can make a lasting impact on the growth of the kingdom of God in our community and world.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Foundation Supports Local Services

In 2023, the GSLC Foundation granted a total of $46,000 across 16 recipients. Notable beneficiaries included the South Carolina Lutheran Retreat Centers, Lutheran Services Carolinas, and Gamecock Lutheran.

  • The South Carolina Lutheran Retreat Centers were awarded $3,000 to procure furniture and equipment for their new swimming pool at Camp Kinard in Batesburg-Leesville.
  • Lutheran Services Carolinas received $3,000 to aid in the operation of a day services center catering to youth in care of the Department of Social Services. This facility provides a secure space for youth without daytime accommodations.
  • Gamecock Lutheran, a campus ministry at USC, secured a $3,000 grant to bolster its Sunday evening programs, which typically attracts and engages about 30 students each week.
